It’s with little pride that I now present the latest fruits of my research into clock-related absurdity: The Barbie Convertible Clock Radio.

The Barbie Convertible Clock Radio is made of genuine plastic and consists of a non-lifesize pale orange model of a convertible which has a Barbie figure permanently affixed to the driver’s seat. In fact, we cannot even confirm that the Barbie in question possesses any legs at all.

Ms. Barbie appears nonchalant as she appears to drive the car. She looks dapper in her pink pant-suit, sun hat and dark glasses. But she is not a proper Barbie, since she cannot be removed from the car and therefore will never have a proper liaison with Ken.

Turning the back wheel on the convertible controls the volume. Turning the front wheel changes the stations on the radio. And under the front hood of the car you’ll find the various controls for the clock radio – for setting the time and various other settings.

But if you are now thinking that you must immediately get up out of your chair and rush to your nearest purveyor of silly gadgets to purchase the Barbie Convertible Clock Radio, let me do my best to disappoint you: I can’t find this thing for sale anywhere, other than used on eBay.
