I think these days writers have it too easy: people are accustomed to comic heroes having super powers, so they usually give their characters these.</description>

		<description>Non-powered characters such as the Clock who do not use technology that significantly outpaces the current level of technology we should refer to as mystery men or masked heroes or costumed heroes or disguised heroes or agressors. This genre admittedly remained more common in the 1930&#039;s (the Shadow [who did not have psychic powers in prose], the Spider, the Gray Seal, etc.). Of course, since even films have started to feature unabashed metahumans (six Harry Potter films reached theaters in less than ten years), the support for normal human protagonists has declined.</description>
