Hot Wheels Clock With Radio

Vrrrooom! The Hot Wheels Clock with Radio is here, and it’s pretty darn neat.
OK, definitely not as neat as an alarm clock radio for your web browser, but still – pretty darn neat!
For all of those who, like me, have grown up with a collection of Hot Wheels miniature cars, this Hot Wheels Clock Radio will surely offer a lot of nice nostalgic moments of reflection.
Hot Wheels are simply an American Classic, in existence since over 40 years! And with good reason: they have a great product. What little boy hasn’t pestered his parents until they’ve relented and purchased him a new Hot Wheels car? With over 10,000 different models of Hot Wheel Cars released over the years, there sure are a lot of different cars for little Junior to choose from, too…
Recently, collecting Hot Wheels products has even become popular among adults. Those of us who’ve been raised on these killer toy cars are all getting older, and have fond remembrances of those early, care-free years hanging out near the orange plastic tracks! Collecting Hot Wheels cars has become so popular, in fact, that the original version of the 1970 Mongoose & Snake Drag Race Set was selling for as much $500 in the 1990s. (This was before they began re-releasing this set, which suddenly it much cheaper for everyone.)
Hot Wheels are so hot, in fact, that they even had their own thirty-minute long animated Saturday morning TV show, which ran from 1969 to 1971.
What’s more – there is currently a full-length live action movie in the works, to be made by Warner Brothers!
…which is all proof that Hot Wheels cars rule!
So why not a Hot Wheels Clock with Alarm, huh? Give me one good reason why not (how’s that for a segue)!

The coolest feature of this clock radio is, of course, that’s it’s simply one big Hot Wheels car – what could be cooler than that? We’d like to know if this clock radio enables you to wake up to the sounds and smells and exhaust fumes of the Indianapolis Freeway, but to get that question answered, we’ll probably have to contact the clock’s manufacturer.
What we do know about this groovy product can best be summized in the following features’ list.
So, let’s list some of the features and functions of the Hot Wheels Clock Radio:
- There are strange “Snore Slammer” alarm sounds (wake up to a car crash? probably not, but we’re definitely talking car sound effects here)
- Turn one of the car’s wheels to adjust the volume
- Turn a different car wheel to tune in a radio station
- There are separate buttons to set the alarm and to set the time
- An AM/FM antenna is built in (no internet radio function? then I’d never listen to it!)
- There is even a battery backup in case your power goes out
- Of course, there are built-in speakers for the clock radio
And there is, unfortunately, a very evil snooze function, but that’s a long story…
But wait…there’s more! Hot Wheels has even apparently made an alternate version of the Hot Wheels Clock with Radio. It’s just about identical to the first clock radio, but adds a clock projection function onto where the spoiler can be found on the model car (see photos below). The spoiler is actually a projection lens that projects the current time on your ceiling!

Check out the Spoiler on this Hot Wheels Clock Radio - it's a Projection Clock!
Yes, this blue model of the Hot Wheels Clock with Radio can project the current time onto your wall.
Although it admittedly has nothing to do with clocks, we found a great old Hot Wheels television commercial from 1968 on YouTube. Hot Wheels toys bring back so many fine memories that we just had to share this video:
You can find the Hot Wheels Clock Radio at Amazon.com (and the Hot Wheels Projection Alarm Clock as well!), if you’re interested in purchasing them. And actually at pretty reasonable prices. So – if you know some boy from 2 to 200 years old, buy him one now and make him happy
So, ladies and germs, start your Clock Radios.
It’s time to rock!
