Online Clock Donates Zeroes to Debt Clock

In 1989 a real estate developer named Seymour Durst installed an electronic sign in Manhattan’s Time Square to display to all visitors the size of the U.S. National Debt.

Apparently, the idea was that the American people would be so appalled by the size of the debt that they would then rally to do something to correct it.

Mr. Durst settled on 13 digits (plus one for the dollar sign) as the number needed on his sign to sufficiently display the size of the U.S. National Debt. Indeed, back then, when the sign went live, the U.S. National Debt was at 2.7 Trillion and the 13 digits were enough.

Recently, however, the U.S. National Debt has topped 10 Trillion and Mr. Durst’s sign is too small to show the entire size of the debt.

For this reason, OnlineClock.net wishes to do what it can.

Online Clock is donating the digital zeroes found below.

Just download them to your computer, open up PhotoShop, and add them as needed to your own digital photos of the U.S. National Debt Clock. In times like these, everyone needs to pitch in, and we’re doing our part.

OnlineClock.net is donating the seven .GIF images below and we hope that this’ll be the U.S. economy’s lucky number.
